Migrating from GP to Business Central

Migrating from GP to Business Central in the cloud can be particularly challenging for finance teams. Most have been accustomed to the financial reporting capabilities of Management Reporter, which made reporting in Dynamics GP very easy and flexible for companies with many different reporting entities.

But since Management Reporter is among the software products no longer enhanced by Microsoft, the product is being left behind and will not be made available in the cloud. Consequently, GP users making the transition to the cloud are left without adequate financial reporting capabilities.

3. Reporting Independence

For finance departments that need to move swiftly and respond to changing reporting demands, the level of independence for the finance team is an important consideration.

When accounts change, managers request new reports, or reorganizations occur, how easily can you adapt reports for those changes? Do these types of changes require specialized expertise? Is it necessary to enlist the help of consultants or the IT department?

4. Transaction Volume and Growth

Complex accounting requirements, like high-volume processing and multi-company consolidations, require significant processing power. They also require the ability to scale. This is a vital consideration when evaluating financial reporting software providers.

For example, Excel-based reporting solutions typically have limited processing power. Data from the ERP is likely exported into an Excel spreadsheet, and that software is used to combine and manipulate the data.
